Our Story

Oh my God, they were roommates!

Stella and Mila’s life together began when they picked each other as freshman roommates at Reed College in August 2018. Stella chose Mila because she thought that they could share hair products. Mila said sure why not, after her mom noticed that Stella had been a camp counselor at Gindling Hilltop Camp—the same camp Mila’s mom had gone to! While Mila grew up in Colorado, both the Trank's and the Greene’s are from Los Angeles, some just blocks away from where Stella grew up. As chance would have it, not only did Mila’s mom and Stella attend the same summer camp, Mila’s dad and Stella had their b’nai mitzvahs at the same temple! 18 going on 19, little did they know of how their story would one day pan out. Three months after meeting, Stella asked Mila to be her best friend. Three years after meeting, they realized they were falling in love. The summer before senior year they were officially dating. Now, it would seem, they were forever roommates.

After graduating from Reed in 2022, they took home two lab rats to spoil (Fern and Sage) and worked in connecting labs at OHSU for two years. When Mila got into graduate school in Minneapolis, a cross-country road trip, rats in tow, was the logical next move. On the border of North Dakota and Minnesota, Stella proposed under a willow tree with the rats, and so they entered their next chapter officially engaged. Two months later, Mila proposed back, rats alongside, under the northern lights in Minneapolis, and the sky put on a show all for them. Now nearly two years after Stella initially proposed, the rats have left the world to live upon the moon, and Stella and Mila are excitedly awaiting their wedding day with their two adopted cats (Marigold and Chrysanthemum), by their side.

They cannot wait to continue this story with all of you, their dear friends and family.
